Who am I?

Hi there!

Warm welcome to Mortiza Hobby & Craft website, a place where I share my crafts within Scale models, Miniatures/Figurines, Dioramas, Arts (paintings), 3D-print, Props and Cosplay. My genres are mostly Sci-Fi, Fantasy and Horrors, but I enjoy other areas as well.

‘Phew – that are lot of different hobbies’, you might think. Well, for me they all go hand-in-hand, they are just different type of scale size and choice of material that will vary, but the techniques are similar as well as the thought process.

My name is Christel Björck and I’m from Southern Sweden, where I also live with my family. My background is that I have always had a very creative side from a young age, but also a logical & practical one, where the later got me through school as an electro engineer and jobs within technical / IT sector (if you are interested in more, check out my LinkedIn). My job is good, but it lacks the creativity I need to get my life balance in order. So, in 1999 I went to a pre-art school in Gothenburg for a year, where paintings have been my main focus until 20 years later in December 2019 where I got introduced to scale models / plastic model builds / figurines - and WOW! I was in heaven! So many things to build and the ideas overlap each other constantly. Since then, I have also started with 3D printing and CAD / design, a way to add details to my builds.

How did I get introduced? Well, after a visit at the F10 museum in Ängelholm (former Swedish Air Force), in the summer 2019, my husband bought a model kit of the Saab 39 JAS and started to build it that autumn. Yet, I was not that interested to start, but after a visit at C-4 Open, a scale model exhibition, in Malmö in October that year, where I saw all the things one could do - bejuicus...

My first scale model was a X-Wing Starfighter, scale 1/112, from Revell. On top of this, Iove to compete, and to do so with model builds was just right up in my alley. In October 2021 at C-4 Open I got into my first competition with the Alya Bar, mostly to understand how it works and to learn how I can get better next time. In 2022 I won my first two bronzes for the vignette "Ambush & Surprise" and the Warhammer figurines "Stormcast Eternals" - super happy about it :)

This year, 2023, has already started out great, where I was selected to participate in the Art exhibition Vår Salong in Helsingborg Sweden, and I have started to take some commissions to fund the materials and tools.
